Welcome to Horizon Laboratories! We are South Africa’s leading diagnostic lab that specialises in COVID-19 tests and DNA paternity tests. Horizon Laboratories is committed to helping fight back the spread of the pandemic and comply with the restrictions that it imposes. One of the many ways we do that is by performing testing for COVID-19 for those planning to travel, with highly accurate results within 3-24 hours.
At Horizon Laboratories, we do RT-PCR tests to check for a COVID-19 infection. These tests use upper respiratory specimens (swabs) to detect viral RNA material with 98.7% accuracy. The positive result signals you may have a current COVID-19 infection, while the negative result can serve as proof to safely board an aircraft.
RT-PCR tests are performed at our CLIA-certified laboratories using the 7500 Fast DX RT-PCR diagnostic system and the Lyra Direct SARS-CoV-2 Assay. The results we deliver meet the travel requirements of most global airlines, so you know you are allowed on board if you test negative.
Even if you are fully vaccinated, some travel companies, airlines and governments may require proof that you are not infected with COVID-19 when travelling. Horizon Laboratories is here 24/7 for you to obtain it when you are about to get on the plane.
For COVID testing in South Africa, you can drop by our lab centres in Cape Town, Rustenburg, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. Appointments are available 24/7 any day of the week. If you have additional documents to be prepared for your trip, you can bring them to be filled out at Horizon Laboratories.
Do you suspect you may be a close contact or just don’t have time to travel to our centres? We can come to your place in any of the four locations to collect respiratory material for an RT-PCR COVID-19 test. You will then get the result, depending on the testing option you choose.
There are two COVID testing options at Horizon Laboratories:
Both RT-PCR testing options are equally accurate and can serve as proof of your current COVID-19 infection status. Please check with your insurance provider to find out if your testing is covered.
